Sometimes a conversation with an old friend can confirm you are on the right path. Through this adoption journey two old friends have reached out to let me know they are here for me during this journey. Both were adopted, one I knew was, one I didn’t, both excited for me. One friend also adopted her kiddo. There are many negative adoption stories, and many beautiful adoption stories. I am not blind nor naive to either. I will also not lie that having friends who lived the experience and are willing to share their story, their advice, their support and excitement for me makes me even more confident in this path.

Is this journey an emotional rollercoaster? Yes. It is insanely stressful? Yes. Is it insanely expensive? Yes. Will you have people question your choices? Yes. Will you have your brain overloaded with information from research? Yes. Am I ready for this? Yes. Will it be worth it? Hell, yes.

I am so thankful for late night conversations and offers of support. I am so thankful for seeing 11:11 when writing this. Maybe taking this path at an older age is so I can stand in the knowledge this is the right path for us.
